Weekly Conservation Officer's report

District 14 - East Metro area

Last updated: 2017-12-11

CO Vuthy Pril (ELCOP) checked big game and small game hunters. Some ice anglers were checked on a couple area lakes in Dakota County. CO Pril also handled injured animal calls and spoke at a snowmobile class.

CO Chelsie Leuthardt (White Bear Lake) spent time checking muzzleloader hunters and fishermen. She also spoke at a snowmobile safety class in Stillwater. Despite ice conditions still being treacherous, several individuals were still out braving the ice to engage in ice fishing. CO Leuthardt wants to advise users that the ice is never safe and to exercise extreme caution if they make plans to venture out.

CO Joe Kulhanek (Hastings) spent the week checking goose hunters in the area. Lots of geese around and many groups were having great luck. He also followed up on some dumping cases and had an incidentally caught otter turned in. Enforcement action included littering and no licenses in possession.

CO Jake Willis (Maplewood) finished follow-up from firearms deer season and answered waterfowl hunting complaints. Training for division honor guard was attended at Camp Ripley. Enforcement action was taken for wanton waste, hunter harassment, and trespassing.
