Hay Creek Management Unit is located about two miles south of Red Wing in northern Goodhue County. It can be reached from State Highway 58 and is bisected by a township road.

Hay Creek Management Unit is surrounded by rugged hills primarily forested in oaks, with elm, birch, basswood, and black cherry mixed in.

Highlights: The trail system within the 1,500-acre unit is connected by several loops covering a wide variety of terrain, from creek bottoms to scenic vistas. Most visitors come to Hay Creek to fly fish in the Hay Creek trout stream, or to ride horseback on the 15 miles of equestrian trails.

The Goodhue Pioneer State Trail is being developed on portions of the abandoned railroad grade that passes through connecting to a day-use/picnic area developed by the city of Red Wing.

Horseback riding trails are open April 30 - November 1.
