La Salle Lake State Recreation Area is Minnesota's newest state recreation area. It offers a great wilderness experience and peaceful getaway amid red and jack pine forests and woodlands.
Take advantage of fishing opportunities on Minnesota's deepest inland lake at 213 feet. Other highlights include a coldwater stream, a scientific and natural area and a pristine stretch of the Mississippi River.

La Salle Lake State Recreation Area is located 233 miles northwest of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area and eight miles north of Itasca State Park.
From the north entrance of Itasca State Park, proceed north on Clearwater County Road 2 for 6 miles. Turn right onto Clearwater County Road 40 and proceed 4 miles. CR 40 becomes Hubbard County Road 9. The recreation area will be on your right, on the south side of the road, and consists of 3 separate entrances depending on which part of the recreation area you intend on visiting.
From Park Rapids, proceed north on US Highway 71 to the intersection of US Highway 71 and US Highway 200. Turn left onto Highway 200 going north to Clearwater County Road 2. Turn right on CR 2 and proceed for 6 miles. Turn right onto Clearwater County Road 40 and proceed 4 miles. CR 40 becomes Hubbard County Road 9. The recreation area will be on your right, on the south side of the road.
From Bemidji, proceed south on US Highway 71. Turn right on South Lake Plantangenet Drive or Hubbard County Road 9 and proceed 10 miles to Becida. Proceed west 6 miles and the recreation area will be on your left, on the south side of the road.
